Choose the right title for your submissions
Part 1: Choosing the right titles
This post gives some information on choosing the right Title(s) for your submissions.
Note: This post is the first part of a small series of posts tagged as general* submission guidelines. Our intention is to cover all the details of a successful submission process.
*general: because it applies to the majority of directories, languages and countries. Things can be different for a directory e.g. Because it requires a longer description, less keywords or a certain title length. We cover all cases when you order a package so do not worry.
To maximize indexing results and avoid appearing suspicious to search engines for acquiring many links in a short time span (like the paid links that search engines dislike), you are advised to provide 1-3 alternate titles as your anchor text.
It is best that these titles are the product of some research on your industry. Depending on the industry, competition might be tough. Probably your competitors have already done their homework, meaning keyword research and keyword optimization. So, to beat the competition you should spent some time in figuring out the most suitable keywords to use as anchor text (1-3 titles) upon submitting your website.
We will give some examples here: you might be selling ‘computer batteries’ and your shop is in Brighton UK. Your titles could be ‘computer batteries Brighton’ or ‘batteries Brighton’. The first title is a long tail keyword and closer to your industry. It was a random example but these search terms give 908.000 results from Google. ‘batteries Brighton’ give 438.000 results, while ‘computer batteries’ give 33.200.000 results.
I thing the example was pretty clear. The first two titles would more suitable for your local market in Brighton.
Now, why not one title only? Sure, you could do that. But, please when ordering 600 directories do not make the submissions within 2 days. It is best to distribute the submissions in say, 2-3 weeks.
There is the issue of paid links that we mentioned earlier. No one knows how many links are allowed to be indexed from the search engines “at once”. Some say thousands of links but who can be sure of that? Every search engine has its own indexing pattern, so your links are not indexed right away. There is a safety switch here and that is the human factor. Directories may take one day to 6 months before approving your links. So, we are in the right track here. Hundreds of submissions done within 2 weeks is the choice we would recommend.
