Submitting Image Thumbnails and RSS Feeds

Part 3: Description, META Description and Keywords

Part 4: Images and RSS feeds.

In this fourth and last part of our submission guidelines we will talk about submitting image links and RSS feeds.

Image links: Most web directories follow the current trend which is to offer a thumbnail of your website next to its text details. This can be done in two ways (automated or manual):

  • i) Automated submission happens upon submitting your website’s data. Web directories collaborate with services like Thumbshots.com and publish automatically a small preview of your website.
  • ii) Manual submission requires that you have obtained a link to a thumbnail or keep a thumbnail of your website at your server or at your local hard disk. Upon submitting your website your are required to give either the http:// link to the image or the path to your hard disk. You can create a thumbnail by using a free service like Thumbshots.org. If you opt for creating your own thumbnail please keep in mind that 120×90 pixels is the standard size in most directories.

RSS Feeds: If your website is a blog then you have the option to submitting a Title for the RSS feed (might as well be the same as your anchor text) and the URL to the RSS Feed. The latter can be found by right clicking on your RSS icon and selecting the “Copy link..”.

Have you read the first part of our submission guidelines? It talks about choosing the correct anchor text.

Thanks for reading.
